Show off Sunday?

I am so sorry I don't have a project to show off for you. I have the plastic animals, spray paint, saw and magnets ready to be turned into something awesome, but this weekend got away from me and I am sorry to say I didn't make it. BUT I will this week, and I will show it off once I do!

In the mean time, come back later today to see what I am going to make this week!!

Camp food!

Oh no! Blogger fail! I scheduled this post to go live Wednesday morning, and now looking, it didn't. Anywho, enjoy!!

One of my favorite parts of camping is the food! I love cooking over an open fire and I love hot dogs and marshmallows (not together). Here are some links to other delish camping recipes!

Orange rind Cinnamon rolls via trulysimple.com

Don't these just look amazing! We are planning on the traditional Hot Dogs and S'mores, but we might just have to give that cinnamon roll trick a try!

Do you have any campfire favorites?

Lust List- Camping Gear!

So this weekend, for the first time EVER since we have met, Andy and I are going camping. We talk about it all the time, and we even own a tent for such an occasion, but we have never been. We decided to bite the bullet and just GO! So this week I am going to be blogging about camping and all the fun stuff it entails!

Starting with Camping Gear Lust List!

So many awesome camping things! I am so excited to go camping!

Make it Monday- Animal Magnets

I have a confession. I am mildly obsessed with plastic animals painted one solid color. My favorite animal is the Rhino, but I don't discriminate when it is a fun color like hot pink or lime green. This brings me to my DIY project this week! I found these awesome plastic animal magnets on Etsy and I am going to try my hand at making a set.

My plan is to find some plastic animals (at Walmart or Target) and cut them in half (using a saw) and then spray paint them a fun color (or 2) and glue a magnet to the flat side.

I am very excited to see how these turn out! Come back on Sunday to see!

Show off Sunday- Personal Prints!

So this week, I decided to try my hand at graphic design to make a few prints for our dining room wall. These are definitely a work in progress, but I like what I have so far!

All of these are quotes that we love, or that are personal, except the last one. When we were dating, like most people, we would argue about who loved each other more (puke, I know). We decided that the most you can love someone is infinity times infinity plus 7. It was also the last words of our vows. :)

I made all of these using Paintbrush, which is an apple version of Paint. I am POOR right now, and can't afford Photoshop so most my entire blog was built using this program too. I love it. Let me know what you think!

Pink Pillows!

So remember that super awesome pink zebra fabric I used to make a Purse Organizer last week? Well, I fell in love, and thought two pink zebra pillow shams would be awesome.

First I took a pillow sham that I knew fit my pillows and laid it on the fabric. I cut out two rectangles in that size. I wanted my shams to be one sided, with a white back, so I only cut one piece per pillow.

Next I cut up a white pillow case I had that was about 4 inches too long for my pillows. I cut it so it was two rectangles of fabric.

I laid the white fabric over the pink so it was about 75% covering the pink. I then cut the fabric on the other end, and placed it over the other 25% (but it covered about 35% so there was some overlap)

I hemmed the inside edges of the white, that would show, then I sewed around the edge, being careful to sew the overlap evenly.

Then I turned it inside out and put a pillow in it and TADA! A pillow sham! Did it again and now I have two.

They were super easy and I think they are really really cute.

Lets go Shopping at West Elm

I love West Elm. I love the style and the colors they use and everything! I feel like it's a nice mix between Pottery Barn (which is country cottage/ beach house) and Crate and Barrel (which is sleek and modern). Here are some of my favorite things!

I will just jump right in! I love the colors and fun pattern of these striped napkins. The zig zag adds a little something extra :)

I am in love with this desk! I love the clean lines of the Parson desk, and the fun but subtle grasscloth pattern is intriguing.

West Elm brings out the faux dead animal lover in me. Maybe I have a pachyderm problem.... But I would just die to take one of these babies home.

Swoon! I also love the subtle hive pattern of these vases. I love the colors too!

I am in love with this shower curtain too, but I would hang two of them as wide curtains along my sliding glass door... It is really taking everything in me not to buy these right now!

I have been on the lookout for a duvet cover, and I love the color and the awesome ruffley detail on this one.

Lastly I am in love with these little typewriter key trays. The color is fabulous and they can be placed all over the place to catch anything from hair pins and keys to earrings and screws (yes I have screws hanging around randomly).

This post could have been a link to every single thing on their website. I love West Elm and if I had a million dollars, my house would look like a catalogue from there :)

I usually only post once a day, but since yesterday showed up before I knew what was happening (seriously I woke up and asked Andy if it was Wednesday...) I will be back early this afternoon with a post about what I did what that extra Pink Zebra fabric!

OMFG I LOVE THIS STUFF!!

Sometimes I find products that I really love, and I think "OMG I have to tell EVERYONE I know about this!" Just me? Well, I have been saying that A LOT lately so I thought who better to share this with than all of you :) And just fyi, I have not been perked or paid or even sponsored for any of these reviews. I paid real money for these things and I love them so freaking much I have to share! Okay? Ok!

1st, (and this is getting a little personal) I am in love with this guy:

I am a freak about cleaning my toilet. I HATE regular toilet swishers and they really gross me out. I discovered this beauty and my life has been changed! You click onto a scrubber, clean the toilet, and then throw it away! And it cleans very very well. It is super easy and plus, you don't have a gross swisher hanging out in your bathroom!

Next, I must rave about Target's RE easy care sheets.

We got these awesome sheets in white for our queen bed. They were $26 and they are the SOFTEST sheets I have ever owned. They are so soft and comfy, and feel WAY more expensive than $26. Awesome sheets make all the difference in a great night sleep. These are amazing.

I love this product even more than I normally would because we didn't have to pay for it!

We won this awesome Soda Stream at an apartment complex Bingo game! We got it for free, but you can buy a starter kit, like we got, for $79.00 at Target or Walmart. Oh Soda Stream how I love you, let me count the ways! I love the savings. The syrups cost so much less than soda that we are saving money. I also love the flavors. WE love the Diet Cola, Root Beer, Grapefruit, and most importantly the Energy drink! One bottle of Energy syrup costs $6.96, and one bottle of syrup makes 33 cans of Red Bull tasting energy drink. 33 cans of Red Bull would cost you over $75! You made your money back right there! Seriously I highly recommend this thing. If you love flavored water, soda, or just sparkling water, you can't beat it.

So there you have it. 3 products I am totally in love with. Let me know if you have any questions about any of these, or if you have them too, share your experiences! And once again, I wasn't payed by anyone to write this post, I just really freaking love these products :)

Make it Monday- Personal Prints

I really do want to try to make one thing a week. It keeps me creative and gives me something to be proud of. I was sitting on the couch this weekend, trying to figure out what to make. Then it came to me. We have a big blank wall in our dining room that I really want to personalize. I started thinking about what would look good there, and what could I actually love and treasure, and it came to me. I am pretty crafty on a computer, so why not create colorful, graphic prints in all different sizes of quotes and sayings that mean a lot to Andy and I, and hang them in a collagey-gallery wall type way. Here is some inspiration!

Obviously they won't look exactly like this, but these inspired me. I am going to use lyrics from the song I walked down the aisle to, our first dance song, each of our vows, etc. It will all be very personal and very us. I am very excited :) So come back on Sunday to see how they turned out!!

Show off Sunday: Purse organizer

So this week I dove right in and made an organizer for my purse. I didn't follow a pattern and it isn't an insert, so this might not be very helpful for you if you wanted to make either of those. I, instead, made a shell of my purse, gave it pockets, and attached it to the inside of my purse using Stitch Witchery.

First, I measured the inside of my purse. It was made of 5 panels of fabric. I measured them individually and cut them out in my fabric, with an extra 1/2 inch to allow for seams.

Then I cut out a strip of fabric about the depth that I wanted my pockets to be.

I layer the strip on each panel and pinned it where I wanted to create a pocket. I sewed a seam along each "pocket".

I then attached all of the panels together, so that it looked like the inside of a purse.

After that, I hemmed the top edge to give it a finished look.

I was ready to insert it into my purse. Because my purse had no pockets, I just too the stitch witchery and ironed it in on the bottom, and along the top, to adhere it to the inside of my purse.

Tada!! That's it.

It was a very simple sewing project, and it gave an old purse new life!

Fashion Friday

First I want to say Happy Friday the 13th!! I LOVE Friday the 13ths! Even as a kid I found them to be lucky and great days for me.

Fun fact to know and tell: I started dating Andy on a Friday the 13th (October 13, 2006 to be exact) and before we called off our Big White Wedding, we were going to get married on a Friday the 13th! Instead we were married on a Saturday the 27th.... Anyhoo, I love them and this one will prove to be just as awesome, I promise.

Moving on! I have always loved fashion. Even as a kid, I had a knack for tearing my clothes apart and refashioning them (much to my parent's chagrin). And now that you know more about me as a kid than you ever wanted to, I bring you Fashion Fridays!!

This is going to be similar to that time I took an outfit that cost a few grand, and got the look for waaaay less. That was fun, right??!

The look:

I love this look. It's super casual, but I could totally wear it to work too. It just looks so comfy! So how do you get the look you ask? Allow me to demonstrate:

1. Target-  $12.99
2. Old Navy- $10.00
3. Target- 16.99
4. Target- $24.99
5. Mod Cloth- $39.99

Grand Total: $101.96. Not too bad :) Now you can look like Taylor Swift!

Lets Go Shopping at Urban Outfitters

After I had so much fun taking you guys to Target with me last week, I decided I would take you on a virtual shopping trip to Urban Outfitters. You probably think of that store as more of a place to buy hipster clothing and mustache paraphernalia but they have always had really cool home goods. They used to cary them in store, but ours doesn't anymore, so we rely online.

The first thing I want to buy from here is this teal Atlas tapestry! I love the color and graphicness, and I want to hang it on my dining room wall!

Urban Outfitters- $39.00
It also comes in Black, Maroon and Orange, if Teal isn't your color of choice. They also have peel and stick Chevron wallpaper. I love these options for wall covering because they are reversible!

Urban Outfitters- $98.00
It also comes in yellow, if you are looking for a bright accent wall. Next I am loving this Chevron frame. I think it would look awesome on a side table, or even on a book shelf. (You will have to excuse the copious amount of Chevron patterned things in this post. 1. I am mildly obsessed with Chevron. Just look at my blog. 2. Urban Outfitters is like the Chevron Megastore, where you can almost get anything with Chevron on it. )

Urban Outfitters- $24.00
I am also in love with this Etched metal letter O. I could see us hanging it on our door, or next to it, outside.

Urban Outfitters- $10.00
Urban Outfitters really does know how to make a girl giddy! First they have everything Chevron patterned in the world, THEN they have Rhino stuff. *Swoon*

Urban Outfitters- $34.00
The only thing that would make him more perfect would be if he was Chevron patterned...

They also have really beautiful beddings sets and curtains. I am in love with these Herringbone curtains in Gray (they also come in Navy and Teal)

Urban Outfitters-$34.00
I also love these purple Papercut Medallion curtains that add just a bit of romance to a room.

Urban Outfitters- $39.00
They also come in Beige and Teal. I think Teal is their color over there... Everything comes in Chevron and Teal... My kind of place!!!

Of course they have a Chevron duvet! It comes in all different colors, but I love it most in this light aqua color.
Urban Outfitters- $99.00

If Chevron really isn't your thing we can't be friends don't be turned off from Urban Outfitters! They have other beautiful things like this duvet I also love. It is also in that soft aqua color.

Urban Outfitters- $89.00

I love the lacy look and the details of the pattern. And lastly in the bathroom, I love this shower curtain.

Urban Outfitters- $44.00
Ah! I bet you are shocked that it is Chevron!

Moral of this shopping trip, I need to go to Chevron Anonymous. Ok probably true, but not the point. The great thing about Urban Outfitters is that they sell really awesome, funky, bright pieces that can layer beautifully into your home, and really add that punch of spunk. Would I outfit my entire house top to bottom in Chevron? Maybe NO! But I do think a pop here and there really adds some character and fun and personality to a room. So I implore you, don't always play it safe! Look for some fun pieces to add to your home that you just love, even if they are all Chevron :)

On the Cheap- Patio Furniture

I am back to save you some money on Patio Furniture! It is a little late in the season to buy patio furniture, but better late than never I say. As I cracked open my Bible sized Restoration Hardware catalog I got in the mail this week, I fell in love with the La Jolla Patio set. I love everything from Restoration Hardware, but I am not sure even President Obama can afford some of that stuff. This set of two chairs, a love seat and a table costs $2,870, if you get a two seat love seat (not the 3 seat couch that is pictured).

By now you probably know of my deep love for Target. Well, I found a set that is almost identical there, for a fraction of the price. You get the exact set, two chairs, a love seat and a table for $996 (temporarily cut down to $799).

So there you have it. I just saved you $1,874. With that, go ahead and buy two more sets from Target and give one to me :) As always, you're welcome!
